Katy's past horses
Escoteiro Interagro (Scout)
Scout remains one of Katy's heart horses. They were partnered from 2018-2024 and he remains a big piece of Katy's life, though now owned and competed by Sheri, a student of Katy's at wyvern farm. Together Katy and Scout climbed from 4th level to Grand Prix, including top 3 finishes in the GP and GP freestyle at CDS champs and region 7 finals, all breeds awards championships at Grand Prix from USLA. They scored up to 69% at Grand Prix and over 70% in their GP freestyle, which was a crowd favorite set to music from "Annie".
Katy and Scout also dabbled in working equitation, did a lot of semi-treacherous trail riding, rode in holiday parades, and ate all the things together.

Famous last words: “I was NOT looking for a horse. I had plenty of students’ horses to ride & didn’t want one of my own, thank you very much! I was *especially* not looking for a white horse; having had a gray as a kid & struggled through keeping her clean for Pony Club inspections, I was sworn off them for life. And I really didn’t want an Iberian, as I was a ‘dyed in the wool’ warmblood person & couldn’t understand why a serious dressage rider would want anything else. And yet, I couldn’t get this white Lusitano out of my head…”
In the latest #YourDressage exclusive story, a trainer in USDF Region 7 shares about the unexpected, full-of-personality gelding she took a chance on, who has now become her Grand Prix mount.
Dior IPH
Dior IPH (2019 premium westfalen gelding by Springbank II, bred by Megan Sigiba) started Katy's covid-era trend of buying, raising, and starting superbly bred young dressage horses. He was an absolute joy to raise and start for the entire family and still brings a smile to the face of everyone around him. Now owned by Katy's student Lara and still boarded at wyvern, Dior is well on his way to being a golden FEI wonder pony.
Lucita
The first of the young horses Katy bought and raised, Lucita (2017 palomino Lusitano mare by Xerez de Quintana) set the bar very high! purchased as a yearling then backed by Katy herself in the back yard during Covid lockdowns, Lucita was about as easy as a young horse could be. Now owned by Katy's friend and student Rachel in Alaska, the two are dominating Alaska dressage with many high point awards at 1st level.
Rohanna
Super Pony Rohanna started Katy's pony obsssion. This 13.3 hand tower of power, small but mighty, showed Katy just how fun riding a pony could be. They showed Prix St George scoring in the mid 60s, and Roh also showed two of Katy's students the ropes at FEI.
Tropenforsher (Mango)
A covid-era impulse buy off the video from Germany, Mango brought joy to a lot of people's lives during a rough time for the world. He and Katy won multiple high point awards at 1st level and schooled through 3rd before Mango went onto success with his new Jr rider owner.
Silverstone (Stoney)
Stoney, owned by Katy's student Charlene, was the 2nd horse Katy trained and showed through Grand Prix. He had a stellar piaffe but taught Katy a lot about how to teach yhe passage and one tempis. Stoney later took his owner into the ring at GP before retiring to the pasture at wyvern farm, where he sadly passed away a few years ago.
Le Mans (Leo)
Leo was the heart horse who started it all for Katy. Purchased as a green 3 year old when Katy was 16, they climbed the levels together to Grand Prix, ending up national champions for adult amateurs at Grand Prix. He then carried many of Katy's students to bronze and silver medals and all the way to the GP ring. Retired to Katy's house at age 18, Leo lived to the ripe old age of 30, aurrounded by love and daily carrots, and he lives on in her heart and the hearts of the many lifes he touched.
