...Lessons and Training Information

Katy and Andrea work with all levels of horses and riders, from barely broke to FEI, and they believe that correct dressage work can benefit horses and riders of all types. They believe that both  horses and riders should find joy in correct work, coming to a higher state of harmony and athleticism, and that horses should become more responsive and fun to ride as they move up the levels of dressage. They both love to take horses which others have said will never advance and bringing them to the next level.

Katy and Andrea specialize in working with two groups of riders, juniors and hard-working adult amateurs. She loves to work with junior riders and show them the fun and beauty of dressage. As a long-time pony club instructor, Katy focuses on C1-A level riders and especially on those interested in pursuing the C3-A ratings in the dressage specialty, for which Katy is an examiner and prep clinician. Andrea is amazing with the younger kids and is a sought after pony club instructor and trainer to Katy's 11 year old son!

Katy is also uniquely sympathetic to the dressage needs of amateurs with demanding “real-world” jobs, as she has one herself! She teaches lessons in the evenings, early mornings, and weekends, accommodating people with 9-5 jobs. Barglow Dressage is a wonderful, supportive group of riders and friends who work together to help everyone get the most joy out of their riding.

Barglow Dressage students are encouraged, but by no means required, to join our group at dressage shows around California and to audit or ride in clinics when available. Katy brings several clinicians, including her coach Chriatian Garweg and Pan Am Gold medalist and "S" judge Donna Richardson in for regular clinics. FEI judge Jane Weatherwax and caveletti specialist Erika Jansen also come regularly to Wyvern farms.

Additionally, Katy is a USEF senior ("S") dressage judge, meaning she can judge recognized shows at all levels. She is also available for  weekend clinics and Pony Club preps (for the Dressage Ratings, the flat phase of the Traditional Ratings, and the HB/HA knowledge Ratings as well as lunging and teaching clinics). Katy loves to travel to new places and meet horse people! She has been traveling to Alaska to teach every summer for more than 10 years and would love to add more places to her annual schedule.
